Knowing you're a highly sensitive person can answer a lot of questions. It can explain why you need more downtime, why crowded places leave you exhausted, or why you experience emotions so deeply.

But after that initial discovery, many people ask a different question:

"Where do I find other people like me?"

Reading books and listening to podcasts can be incredibly validating. But they can't fully replace the experience of talking with someone who instinctively understands what it's like to live with a highly sensitive nervous system.

The Sensitive & Neurodivergent Community was created to offer that connection.

It brings together highly sensitive and neurodivergent people from around the world in a private, supportive space where members can learn, share experiences, and build relationships with others who genuinely understand the challenges and strengths of sensitivity.

What this resource is about

The Sensitive Empowerment Community is a private online membership community founded by Julie Bjelland, LMFT, a psychotherapist who specializes in supporting highly sensitive and neurodivergent adults.

Unlike traditional social media groups, the community is hosted on its own platform and was intentionally designed to provide a calmer, more supportive environment without the distractions of advertising or social media algorithms.

Julie has described it as "a soft place to land" for highly sensitive people.

Members have access to:

  • discussion forums
  • live educational events
  • support groups
  • Q&A sessions
  • guest speakers
  • community gatherings
  • workshops
  • member-led activities through the Community Café
  • connections with other highly sensitive people from around the world.

One of the community's defining features is its collection of specialized groups designed around different interests, identities, and life experiences.

At the time of writing, these include groups such as:

  • Sensitive Sages (for members aged 59+)
  • Spiral Up (depression support)
  • Adult-Discovered Autistic Group
  • Soul Sanctuary (for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color)
  • Rainbow Room (for LGBTQIA+ members)
  • Heart-Centered Business (premium)
  • Julie's course discussion groups
  • Community Café events and interest-based gatherings.

Julie also regularly hosts educational sessions and invites guest experts to speak on topics such as nervous system regulation, boundaries, creativity, relationships, health, parenting, business, mindfulness, and personal growth.

What you'll learn or gain

Depending on how you participate, you may:

  • connect with other highly sensitive people around the world
  • feel less isolated in your experiences
  • learn practical strategies for supporting your nervous system
  • attend live educational events
  • ask questions directly during community discussions
  • explore topics such as boundaries, self-compassion, relationships, and stress management
  • receive encouragement from people who understand high sensitivity
  • discover resources created specifically for HSPs and sensitive neurodivergent adults

Many members describe the greatest benefit as finally finding a place where they feel understood and accepted.

Who it's for

This community may be especially helpful for:

  • highly sensitive adults
  • newly identified HSPs
  • HSPs seeking connection outside social media
  • sensitive people experiencing loneliness or isolation
  • neurodivergent adults
  • HSP entrepreneurs and practitioners
  • people looking for ongoing encouragement rather than a one-time course

Because there are multiple support groups and discussion areas, members can often focus on the topics that feel most relevant to their current stage of life.

Key benefits

Here are a few reasons this community stands out:

  • Created specifically for highly sensitive and neurodivergent people
  • Founded and moderated by Julie Bjelland, LMFT
  • Private platform away from traditional social media
  • Includes numerous specialized support groups
  • Live events, guest speakers, and educational sessions
  • Opportunities to build meaningful friendships with other HSPs
  • Welcoming environment that emphasizes kindness and respect
  • Continually evolving with new events and community activities

One of the community's biggest strengths is its ability to combine education with connection. Members aren't just learning about high sensitivity; they're sharing experiences with people who have similar lived experiences.

Any limitations

As with any online community, your experience will depend partly on how actively you participate.

People looking only for structured lessons may benefit more from one of Julie's courses, while those seeking ongoing connection are likely to get more value from the community itself.

It's also worth noting that this is a membership community rather than a free discussion forum, so ongoing access requires a paid subscription based on the membership plan you choose. Current plans and pricing are available on the community website.

Finally, while the community offers peer support and educational resources, it is not a substitute for individual therapy or professional mental health care when more intensive support is needed.

Personal take

I believe every highly sensitive person should experience being around other HSPs at least once.

Learning about the trait through books and courses is incredibly valuable, but there's something different about realizing you don't have to explain yourself.

You can simply belong.

What stands out to me about the Sensitive Empowerment Community is that it was intentionally created to be a calmer alternative to social media. It's a safe space where highly sensitive people can connect without the noise, negativity, and overstimulation that often accompany larger online platforms.

For HSPs longing to find "their people," this community may be one of the most meaningful resources Julie Bjelland offers.
